Spartan College to Compete at 2026 Aerospace Maintenance Council Competition with Support from SkyWest Airlines

Denver, CO. — April 20, 2026 Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology is excited to be represented by a student team from its Denver campus at the 2026 Aerospace Maintenance Council (AMC) Competition, from April 21-23, held during MRO Americas in Orlando, Florida.

Taking place at the Orange County Convention Center, the AMC Competition brings together top aviation maintenance teams from across the globe to demonstrate technical skills, precision, and teamwork in real-world aviation maintenance scenarios.

Spartan’s Denver team will compete in the “Schools” category, with support provided by sponsorship from SkyWest Airlines. The team will be coached by Spartan instructors; Jon Perry, Alvin Florian, and Nathan LaVoie, who bring extensive industry and instructional experience to guide students through the high-pressure, hands-on competition.

Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology partners with SkyWest Airlines through the SkyWest Aviation Technician Career Pathway, designed to create a direct pipeline from training to potential airline employment. Through this pathway, students have access to mechanic advisors, facility tours, and networking opportunities while working toward their FAA Airframe and Powerplant certification. Eligible participants may also qualify for tuition assistance and certification-related reimbursements, along with a priority interview upon graduation, helping graduates’ transition confidently into potential careers as aviation maintenance technicians.

“The AMC Competition is one of the most valuable platforms for students to apply their Spartan training in a real-world environment,” said Rob Polston, CEO of Spartan Education Group. “We are proud to support our Denver students as they represent Spartan on a national stage and are grateful to SkyWest Airlines for their continued partnership in helping develop the next generation of aviation maintenance technicians.”

Hosted on the exhibition floor of MRO Americas, one of the aviation industry’s largest global gatherings, the AMC Competition is expected to feature approximately 90 teams competing across multiple categories, including commercial aviation, general aviation, military, and schools.

Teams of five compete in a series of timed maintenance challenges designed by leading airlines, manufacturers, and industry organizations. These events test critical skills such as troubleshooting, inspection, repair, and adherence to safety procedures, reflecting the real-world demands placed on aviation maintenance technicians.

For Spartan students, participation in the AMC Competition provides a unique opportunity to demonstrate their capabilities, gain exposure to leading aviation maintenance employers, and build confidence in a competitive, fast-paced environment.

As the aviation industry continues to face growing demand for skilled maintenance professionals, Spartan remains dedicated to equipping students with the training and industry connections needed to succeed.
