Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology ranked ninth in nation of two-year colleges for occupational earnings power

(TULSA, Okla.) – Today, officials announced Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology is ranked in the top ten of two-year or less colleges with the highest value added with respect to occupational earnings power.  This ranking comes from the Brookings Institution, a private non-profit organization which provides top-quality research that provides practical recommendations for policymakers and the public. This latest report evaluated economic outcomes for alumni of colleges from across the country.

“This report just reinforces what we already know,” said Peter Harris, CEO of Spartan College. “That Spartan helps our students qualify for good jobs and provides them with opportunities to earn higher salaries.”

The Brookings Institution examined the kinds of occupations that graduates from various colleges enter and the average pay for those occupations. On this score, alumni skills, the share of graduates majoring in STEM fields and curriculum value, strongly predict a college’s value-added with respect to occupational earnings power.

The report specifically mentions that part of Spartan’s strength arises because of its high score on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and skill orientations, which boost value-added.

“This study provides us with many useful insights because of its methodology,” said Harris.  “Compared to many popular college rankings, the ‘value-added’ method focuses on how well colleges contribute to the economic success of students during their careers, rather than simply the ability to attract certain types of students.”
