How to Get Started with Airframe and Powerplant Training

What is airframe and powerplant training? It is essential training that teaches you how to repair and inspect aircraft as an aviation maintenance technician (AMT). This type of work ensures that airplanes and their systems are maintained to airworthy standards and are safe to fly for pilots and passengers. What’s it like to pursue an education as an AMT? Today we’ll explore what it takes to obtain your A&P certification.

How to get started on the path to become an AMT

The first step to becoming an aviation maintenance technician is to ensure that your training program is approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This means you would need training that meets the FAA requirements in Title 14, Part 147. Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology is an airframe and powerplant school that meets these requirements. As a result, Spartan College graduates are qualified to sit for tests with the FAA for the Mechanic’s Certificate for both Airframe and Powerplant ratings, and can apply their skills to other maintenance industries.

How to Tell if You’re a Good Fit for AMT

Are you the right person for airframe and powerplant training? Are you highly skilled, detail-oriented, and have a passion for hands-on work? The skills and knowledge gained from training at Spartan College is applicable to other maintenance industries and professions. Whether students have a passion for automotive and diesel technology, heavy equipment, and even industrial technology, there can be gainful takeaways from training at Spartan College.

Good Future Paths for Aircraft Mechanics

The skills an aviation maintenance technician learns can be applied to many mechanical industries. FAA certified AMT’s can repair all US certificated aircraft. This includes general aviation aircraft, corporate aircraft, commuter aircraft as well as aircraft owned by the major airlines. The skills learned can also be applied to auto and diesel, maritime, oil and gas, alternative energy and other related industries. Aviation maintenance technology training provides a varied career-oriented skillset.
