Why did you select Spartan College and your program of study?

After trying to go to a traditional 4 year college for an Aerospace Engineering degree I realized that I did not want to sit behind a desk all day. With traditional college not working out for me and wanting to do something other than be an auto mechanic I looked to Spartan. My mom saw an ad on the tv for Spartan and told me to check it out. So I called for information and set up a tour. When I attended the tour I just knew that Spartan was where I wanted to go.

How did Spartan College successfully prepare you for your career?

Spartan has a variety of resources to prepare its students. I think my favorite part was all of the hands on labs. Getting to actually do certain tasks that are also done in the field is so useful. The other main resource is what the faculty does to get companies to present at the school. That is how I found Horizon Air. The first presentation I saw by them made me want to work there and motivated me to do my best. Once I knew I wanted to work for Horizon I worked with the faculty to get my resume built, communicate with the company, work an interview into my schedule, and prep for starting at Horizon. As long as a student works with the instructors, the faculty, and the companies that come to present the path to a great career will be a smooth one.

Please describe your career path and how you got to where you are today (Including degrees earned).

I graduated from Spartan with an Associate’s Degree and my A&P license in February of 2019. In April of 2019 I started at Horizon Air in Redmond Oregon and I have been there ever since. I have learned so much at Horizon. I am even run/taxi qualified on one of the fleet types. I am hoping that there will be so much more in my future and I couldn’t be happier with the path I have taken.
