Job Title: A&P Mechanic
Why did you select Spartan College and your program of study?: Based on the research I looked into regarding A&P schools, Spartan was the only one that seemed to offer the full package. They offered a one stop shop as far as having the classes and functional equipment on site. They also offered being able to take the FAA exams on site, which took alot of stress away. Once I met the faculty and staff on-site I felt like Spartan was a good fit for me.
How did Spartan College successfully prepare you for your career?: Spartan's unique type of learning allowed me to gain the basic and essential knowledge needed to be in the aviation industry. The Instructors and staff were very friendly, knowledgeable and willing to help with anything. Because of Spartan I was able to grow and gain the traits needed to succeed.
Please describe your career path and how you got to where you are today (Including degrees earned).: Being an Aircraft Mechanic was not where I thought I would be today. I had an unfortunate injury in the military which lead to two spine surgeries and ultimately a permanent medical retirement. At that point I did not know what to do. I had spoken with my father in-law who is also an A&P. After talking to him I was able to see myself doing this as a career. I enrolled at Spartan and began the next journey in life. I was able to complete the AMT program with a 4.0 GPA. I was also able to forge and lay the foundation for building a new student council as the student council president. As a part of my plan to succeed in school, I took all of my written exams as soon as I finished that portion of the curriculum. I ended up getting my single powerplant rating. As soon as I finished the whole program I had taken my Airframe exams to become fully licensed. Before I graduated I was receiving offers for employment. With all of these opportunities I ended up selecting McAir Aviation. I also accepted a part time position at Feam Aero. I want to gain as much experience as I can in both General Aviation as well as the commercial side. Because of the great experience I had at Spartan I have decided to take the bachelor's degree program in the fall.
