International Students: Aviation Flight
Students Thrive at Spartan
Spartan College strives to ensure each student has every chance to succeed. Students build a community within Spartan and in the surrounding campus area. Aviation Flight students train to obtain the essential skills, knowledge, and experience to be a safe and qualified, professional pilot.
Plus, the typical graduates of our FAA part 141 approved Aviation Flight program may be eligible to apply to continue on to take the Bachelor of Science in Technology Management program. On top of that, domestic and international students may apply to work as a Certified Flight Instructor on the Spartan College location. This allows students to continue in their training journey to become a pilot in the same city and on the same campus they’re used to occupying.

Payment Schedule
Students opting to utilize Spartan housing will also be required to make an advanced housing payment to cover the servicing fee and first months rent.

Admissions Criteria
Congratulations on deciding on Aviation Flight and training to earn your Associate of Applied Science.
To get started, let’s make sure you qualify.
- Applicants must have the equivalent of a U.S. high school education. See information related to translation and equivalency requirements.
- Applicants should have the funds available for tuition and living expenses prior to and while attending Spartan College. U.S. government regulations require that documents be submitted with the application to prove students have adequate financial support.
- Applicants should be able to meet all language requirements. Courses are taught in English. See section titled English Language Requirement in Admissions Policies.
- International applicants seeking to enter select programs are required to submit proof of a physical exam. Contact Spartan College’s admissions department for a copy of the approved physical form.
- Flight applicants who are not U.S. citizens or nationals will be required to complete the registration process and receive authorization from the Transportation Security Administration prior to beginning flight training. Register at https://www.flightschoolcandidates.gov/.
- Students enrolling at Spartan College under contract with an international post-secondary institution or company must follow the requirements of the contract.

I-20 (International Students)
- Non-U.S. citizens who have never studied in the United States;
- Non-U.S. citizens who are transferring from a secondary school, college or university in the United States.
- Non-U.S. citizens who are switching their current visa status to the F-1 visa.
- Non-U.S. citizens who are returning from a leave of absence from the United States that is greater than 5 months.
- Spartan College will begin issuing I-20s for initial status students no sooner than 120 days before the program start date.
- Copy of your passport.
- Completed supporting financial documentation needs to be included, as explained in the I-20 application.
- If funding yourself, you must have minimum liquid assets to cover your costs for a 12 month period. (**Sponsors will need to show liquid assets above the minimum. See application for details.)
- Students planning to bring a spouse and/or children must provide evidence of additional financial support: a minimum of $13,000 for a spouse and $5,000 for each child for the first year.
- If you are currently studying at another U.S. institution, you must submit copies of any I-20 forms previously issued and a I-20 Transfer Form to be completed by the international student advisor at the school you now attend. Also submit copies of your passport, visa, and I-94.
Timeline
It's important for you to submit all of your documents to the Office of Admissions in sufficient time for us to process all the paperwork and send your I-20 form to you. Keep in mind that visa processing can take up to three months!
Once you receive the I-20 form from Spartan College, and your SEVIS Fee (I-901) is paid, take it along with your I-20 application, and financial evidence to the U.S. Embassy or consulate in your country.
Upon entering the United States, present your Spartan College I-20 form to a U.S. immigration official along with your F-1 visa (stamped in your passport) and I-94 form (obtained on the plane).
