Getting Here
Spartan has two campuses (besides the Flight Campus), the North Campus located at the Tulsa International Airport, and the Main Campus located on Pine Street. You may want to look at a local map to help you find the Main Campus where you will be reporting to once you have arrived in Tulsa.

Quarters
Spartan provides housing for the Coast Guard students in our newly built Spartan Landing Apartments. The apartments are located adjacent to Spartan's main "South" campus and are in walking distance to many of your classes. These apartments are fully furnished. Each unit includes four private bedrooms, two baths, a living room, a dining room, a fully equipped kitchen, and a washer and dryer.

Food Service
Spartan will provide three meals per day. Two meals (breakfast and lunch) will be served in the school cafeteria at the North campus. Evening and weekend meals will be served at the Golden Corral Restaurant. Transportation will be provided.

To: Student, AMT and/or AVT "A" School Class Subject: Welcome to Spartan College Of Aeronautics and Technology
Contract Aviation "A" School Congratulations on your receipt of orders to Aviation "A" School. We are looking forward to your arrival here at Spartan. Working with the staff of the Aviation Technical Training Center in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, a special curriculum has been developed for your training at Spartan. The material you will learn here will allow you to attain the same qualifications as if you attended classes at the Aviation Technical Training Center. With in the 20 weeks you are here at Spartan, the aviation technical training course AMT or AVT will provide you with hands-on experience to handle, inspect, and maintain various aircraft sub-assemblies and systems to the rate you have requested. Additionally, during this training you may also receive 9D5 dunker, low pressure, and physiological training. I want to provide you with some information that may make your stay here in Tulsa a little easier. Spartan Aviation "A" School is a civilian aviation vocational training center contracted to train U.S. Coast Guard "A" school students. This training is basic aviation fundamentals. Here at Spartan we are under the command of Commanding Officer Aviation Technical Training Center. There are no special rules or privileges while attending Spartan. You will need to read the student handbook on the ATTC web page. All of the rules that apply to the Technical Training Center apply here; in fact, there are additional rules here. These will be explained in more detail on your arrival. There are no major items you need to purchase prior to coming to Spartan, but be sure that you bring a full and complete seabag with you. You will be required to stand inspections. You WILL BE REQUIRED to wear an inspection-ready working blue uniform to class each day with standard C.G. safety shoes. If your uniforms are old or worn, I recommend that you purchase at least two new ones prior to your arrival here at Spartan. There is no exchange here; you will need to do this prior to your arrival. Nametags are required on your working blue uniforms. Cloth nametags are preferred but not mandatory; they can be obtained through several sources. Flight Jackets are not an authorized cold weather jacket and will not be allowed. All Coast Guard "A" school students will be assigned to contract quarters. Quarters and messing are provided and are explained on this web page. Due to the availability of quarters, individuals wishing to arrive early must have their Leading Chief Petty Officers first contact the U.S. Coast Guard Liaison. Quarters are not contracted or available for early arrivals. Members will be required to pay at their own expense for motels until their report date. Members are not allowed to contact Spartan directly for quarters. If you have any questions, have your LCPO contact me at (918) 831-5302. Again, congratulations on your orders to Spartan. Have a safe and enjoyable trip to Tulsa. The following is a list of information that may help make your transition to Spartan a little easier: Need a ride from the airport? Call me at (918)-831-5302 and arrange for a ride no later than Friday before 1600 prior to your arrival. Do not wait until the last minute to make arrangements. After 1800 contact the duty room at (918) 645-3196 or 4156. Arrivals between 1600 and 2000 should expect very long delays in excess of three hours before arriving at quarters. Members may be required to take a cab to quarters and should have the funds to do so. Appropriate civilian attire is allowed for check-in. Remember you are in a duty status for check-in. Is your government credit card paid up? In the past there have been students who owed money on their government charge card and had to pay out of pocket before receiving reimbursement from their last unit. You are here TAD and the Credit Card Company is not going to wait 20 weeks for their money. You are ultimately responsible for paying them. Mutual Assistance loans are very difficult to obtain here at Spartan. Is your MRN PO course completed? Are you prior service, and not completed the MRN PO course? MRN PO Course for E-4 must be completed and in your PDR, or you will not be able to complete the course at Spartan. Failure to comply will prevent your advancement to E-4 upon graduation. You will graduate as an ANAMT or ANAVT (E-3 rated). MRN Qualifications for E-4 must be completed and in your PDR. Failure to complete the E-4 Qualifications will prevent your advancement to E-4 upon graduation. You will Graduate as an ANAMT or ANAVT (E-3 rated). Is your Airman Syllabus completed? Is it or a copy of it in your PDR? Your Airman Syllabus must be completed and in your PDR, or you will not be able to complete the course at Spartan. Failure to comply will prevent your advancement to E-4 upon graduation. You will graduate as an ANAMT or ANAVT (E-3 rated). Is your ID card up to date? Is all of your allotment accurate? At Spartan there is no administrative staff. All of this work has to be processed through ATTC. Do you need to order cloth nametags for your work uniform? You can order them through the Elizabeth City Exchange at (252) 335-6296. Here is the number to the Uniform Distribution Center in Cape May: 1-800-874-6841. Finally, being a staff of one here at Spartan, I am not always available to answer your questions. The AMT and AVT "A" School Staffs can answer most of the questions or concerns.
