Aviation Maintenance Technology Program
Associate Degree or Diploma
The aviation industry is in constant need of qualified aviation maintenance technicians. These highly skilled and detail-oriented individuals help keep the airways safe and the airplanes in the sky.
The Aviation Maintenance Technology program offered at Spartan College can help prepare you for the Airframe and Powerplant certification required by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Students will learn about all types of aircrafts, from small engine airplanes to large transport planes like those used in today's major airlines. You will complete critical airplane maintenance training in areas, such as:
- Hydraulics and pneumatics
- Ignition and electrical systems
- Fuel systems
- Aircraft welding
- Turbine-prop and jet engines
Earn your Aviation Maintenance Technology diploma in as little as 18 months or your Associate of Applied Science degree in just two years. In addition to your newfound airplane maintenance knowledge and skills, you will also have a versatile skill set that can transfer over to other mechanical industries, such as automotive and diesel, boat and auto racing, heavy equipment, power and light, and industrial technology.
Every 100 hours that an aircraft is used, it must pass a specified aviation maintenance and inspection process. This, in combination with standard annual inspections and routine airplane maintenance repairs, helps create a high demand for trained and licensed aviation maintenance technicians.
